November 29, 2010: Mass. Continuing Legal Education Conference Guest Speaker
Karen has been invited by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc., to participate in their ADR conference on November 29, 2010 in Boston, MA. Karen, along with Vicki Shemin and Doug Reynolds, will be speaking on Collaborative Law and the Uniform Collaborative Law Act.
September 2010: Levitt to discuss creating Interdisciplinary Collaborative Organizations
Karen will be a guest speaker at a meeting of collaborative professionals in Connecticut in September, to dialogue about creating a statewide interdisciplinary collaborative organization. As a member of the IACP Practice Group Development Committee, Karen is doing outreach in New England not just in Connecticut, but in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.
July 2010: Congratulations Karen for becoming a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation
Karen has recently been invited to become a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, www.americanbarfoundation.org. Membership is limited to one third of one percent of the lawyers in America. The AFB is an honorary organization, and an Invitation to become a Fellow is in recognition of significant professional achievements and continued efforts to improve the legal profession. Congratulations Karen!

The Boston Business Journal in its June 25-July 1, 2010 issue, mentioned Karen in its “On the Move” section. Karen is co-chairing the articles and publications committee of the a Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council, with Michael Zeytoonian of the Zeytoonian Center for Dispute Resolution.
June 27, 2010: Levitt walks half marathon to support the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation
Karen successfully completed the half marathon sponsored by Team Challenge and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, which was a 13.1 mile course at the beautiful Blue Hills Reservation in Canton. Karen raised over $8,000.00 for charity, thanks to many generous friends, colleagues, and family. Karen also thanks the Levitt Law Group and all of her colleagues at work for their support!
June 3, 2010: Collaborative Law & Mediation Presentation at Norfolk County Law Library
Karen Levitt gave a presentation on June 3, 2010, at the Norfolk County Law Library, entitled “Collaborative Law and Mediation: A Hybrid Approach to Conflict Resolution”. The presentation focused on the integration of the Collaborative Law and Mediation processes to meet the challenges that these processes alone may not be able to address for clients. Whether in litigation or seeking out of court solutions, using a hybrid model brings greater depth and more variety of problem solving techniques to dispute resolution.
April 8-10, 2010: American Bar Association invites Levitt to speak at spring conference
Karen Levitt, Lynda Robbins and William Andrews were invited to give a presentation at the American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section Spring Conference in San Francisco April 8-10, 2010. Their presentation is titled "Two Processes are Better than One: Combining Mediation and Collaborative Practice To Help Families Resolve Estate and Elder Conflicts."
March 31, 2010: Attorney Wells certified for Limited Assistance Representation Cases
On March 31, 2010 Attorney Andrea Wells became certified to handle Limited Assistance Representation cases in the Probate and Family Court. Attorney Wells attended the state required training, and her certification for Limited Assistance Representation adds a new area of practice for the firm. The Levitt Law Group is excited to provide this service to our clients!

Karen Levitt recently appeared on March 11, 2010 on local radio station, 980 WCAP in Lowell, as a guest of the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce business lunch program. The Levitt Law Group was featured and Karen discussed litigation, mediation, and collaborative practice in family law with Jeanne Osborn, President & CEO of the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce, and Danielle Bergeron of WCAP. It was a great conversation and provided much information to the general public about different ways to approach family law issues.
March 2010: La Vita becomes a Trained Mediator
Teresa La Vita successfully completed the 33-hour mediation training course with the Community Dispute Settlement Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Teresa will join Karen and Andrea to provide mediation services to clients in all areas of family law, including divorce and child custody.
